"Wha... Sugar Spoon...?" Scribble's thought process came to a screeching halt when his eyes laid rest on the unicorn he knew for quite some time. Before he could say anything about it, he'd been roped into one of the tightest hugs in his life. He wanted to say something to the pony he hadn't seen in what was presumed to be forever, but all that came out at first was a harsh wheeze.
Still, that seemed to be enough for the unicorn to back off a little. "...Sorry." She muttered.
"It... It's alright." More than alright, actually. Scribble took in a gulp of air, trying to get his own thoughts going. "I... did you say eight years?" He tried to hide his surprise, but the more he thought about it, the more obvious it was that some time had passed.
"Yeah." The former waitress nodded. "You went around that corner and..." She looked about as confused as he did. "You didn't come back."
"I, er, uh..." Scribble's gaze briefly went to the others, trying to pick up any kind of explanation. "I've been... busy. Really busy."
"Oh, did you-"
"No, nothing to do with my books." He shook his head. Being reminded of his disappointments wasn't very fun. Both of them seemed to silently agree to not go down that branch of conversation any further.
"You, uh, looks so young! Have you been using appearance spells?"
"Uh, no. It's a.... a long story." One he'd never be able to explain. "And, uh, you... you're..."
"The boss around here now." She smiled. "Finally got that promotion a few years ago."
They continued to chatter on, trying to catch up on things without Scribble revealing too much of what he'd really been doing.
