A Gryphon Shattered

 The swordsgryphon twirled and dodged around Cobalt, even tucking in her wings and diving through one of its open claws when no other option was available. She slashed several times at other unarmored spots, angering the creature and loosing the sound of her other sword breaking in her efforts. Swooping out a bit farther away from the behemoth, Ako spotted a claw heading for Sharpwit and heard him call her strike. Diving, she slashed Hattori's blade across the unarmored section of leg, cutting nearly two thirds of the way through the appendage. If the roar of pain and how the claw now hung limply at the end of the appendage, it had been a devastating blow.

"What are you thinking?!" Ako roared over her shoulder at Sharpwit, banking up to hover over him. "You could be killed, featherbrain, or worse-..."

She failed to say what could be worse as the gryphon saw her sword - or more accurately what was left of it - in Sharpwit's mouth. Ako's eyes widened, beak dropping open in a mixture of  shock and loss. Her flapping faultered, dropping her down a few feet before recovering. 

"What did you... what did..." The gryphon whimpered, starting to come over to him when Cobalt retaliated. 

The partially severed claw swung past like a wrecking ball, smashing into Ako's side like a mountainside collapsing on her. Her body crumpled against it as it flung her away, the sound of bones breaking unmistakable. She slammed against one wall and then fell to the floor, motionless.
